How it started
Marco Yao-Bate, a high school student from the International School of Manila learned about how an international organization called The Toy Movement was distributing toys to children in war-torn regions around the world. He realized the magnitude of the impact that toys have in helping children cope amid the harsh living conditions they experience as a result of living in war-torn and impoverished areas. He first brought gift-wrapped toys to an elementary school in La Union alongside the food and other goods distributed by their school and he saw how the toys brought joy to the 150 malnourished children in the impoverished area. He is now working with partners and fellow student volunteers to bring this project to war-torn and poverty-stricken places around the Philippines.
